What are Archival Boards?

Archival boards are a huge part of the archival framing process.

By nature, paper and board tends to becomes acidic over time. It will seep into the paper of your artwork resulting in those nasty brown spots called foxing, or other paper discolouration issues.

Archival boards have been specially designed to be acid neutral and stay that way, combatting this problem and keeping your artwork safer for longer. The aim is to ensure the work looks like it did when you put it in the frame for as long as possible.

Archival boards are just the beginning of the archival framing process. UV Glass, air gaps and archival mounting are crucial for a full archival set up. If you have something really special that needs that level of protection, come and visit us in store to have a chat about a custom framing set up (Auckland only).
